PreK-8 Curricular Arc
The program is designed to develop, not just deliver.
Our academic program is built as a progression. Each year is shaped by what comes before it and what comes next — the same convictions about children and learning, enacted age by age, subject by subject.
Rigor is structural. It lives in the programs we choose: Illustrative Mathematics across PK–8, the science of reading, Cambridge as curriculum in social studies, a writing arc that moves from mark-making in PreK to multi-paragraph research in 8th grade. It lives in the practices we repeat. And it lives in the outcomes: graduates who read closely, write clearly, reason mathematically, argue from evidence, and show up to whatever comes next still fully themselves.
Explore each subject below. Note that we approach learning as a multi- and inter-disciplinary experience, so, although we have outlined our curriculum by subjects, much of the teaching and learning at Fayerweather utilizes skills and concepts from across disciplines.
